American in France -- Reposted commentary

Thu Nov 10, 2005 at 08:09:56 AM PDT

This was sent to me the other day from a friend. I wrote the author for permission to cross-post this here on Kos. He agreed. This is an interesting perspective from across the ocean on the unrest in France. The MSM is virtually a blackout for any information, much less quality information on the situation and history of the uprisings all over France. This post should add to the dialog. This is not a news report, just a commentary.

Are we surviving without the NYT online?

Thu Oct 06, 2005 at 08:56:21 PM PDT

Ok, it's been a few weeks now without regular content from the Times for all of us to conveniently access. What's missing? Anything but Krugman and Rich?

I find myself heading straight to sites like RawStory and AmericaBlog as well as the BBC, the Guardian, the Independent et al. for news, and into the wonderful blogosphere for commentary and news. Do we really miss the Times?

Of course there's some cynicism in asking this question as well as some humor, so let's not get too serious here.

Please, take the poll.

Reflections on BushCo. Callousness

Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 08:27:24 AM PDT

As a child growing up in a liberal/Democrat/socialist household, I came to realize that the single largest pile of money in the world is what's collected from the people and businesses of the United States. And that's one juicy side of beef to carve up. There's drippings for everyone, but the real meat is going to go to the "priviledged" class, and they will fight like hell to keep their patronage flowing!

Proof: They are keeping the aid out of NO -- Genocide by BushCo.

I know nothing about HTML, so fuck off with your ettiquette shit, people are dying.

From the Red Cross Website:

http://www.redcross.org/faq/0,1096,0_682_4524,00.html#4524

"Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?

Acess to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot enter New Orleans against their orders.

The state Homeland Security Department had requested--and continues to request--that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans following the hurricane. Our presence would keep people from evacuating and encourage others to come into the city."

Believe what you want, this is in their "Disaster FAQs" page.

This is genocide folks. And now, Hastert wants to bulldoze the city so they can develop a Las-Vegas-on-the-Mississippi. ?????

GENOCIDE!
